Hello again Tinpotters!

Yesterday was the Tinpot Wordshop at North Lincolnshire Museum as part of Big Sky Festival. It was an exciting project for Tinpot – a promenade and hunt piece that relied heavily on audience interpretation of the information provided in the museum.

Visitors arrived at the Museum and were directed upstairs to be greeted by Tinpot and to purchase a Tinpot pack.

Tinpot pack modelled beautifully by a young Tinpotter

The pack was filled with beautiful loose pieces of paper, each containing a mysterious clue or question.

Tell us what YOU think they are chatting about

There were questions asking about noise, touch and imagination. Involving all the senses for an all-round experience. The answer to each page would be found with the aid of the Tinpot specs and corresponding letter which showed you the way.

They were placed all around the museum, encouraging visitors to explore the galleries and cabinets.

Dave went all Tinpotty looking for our clues

Once all the words and clues had been gathered they were brought back to us in the Tinpot Wordshop where we helped to twist and develop the words into intricate stories, inspiring poems or mind-boggling haiku’s.

Writing stories about tomatoes and gravestones!

Creative writing done, the Tinpotters decorated their book covers with all the glorious craftiness of the Tinpot trunk…

…and then bound them using the japanese stab binding technique with four holes and raffia instead of thread. Some of the final outcomes were very pretty and creative.

Some exceedingly creative books were made by all. We are hoping to host the event again as soon as possible because everybody had a lovely time – we will keep you posted!
