Hello there Tinpotters,

This weekend saw our first public workshops as part of the first ever Big Sky Festival, a two week long festival to promote the arts in North Lincolnshire organised by North Lincs Arts Forum

http://www.bigskyfest.com

Yesterday we held The Tinpot Library, a book arts workshop as part of Big Sky Festival Taster Day at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe.

We set up our room using all our vintage goodies and items on loan from the art department:

vintage goodies.

The aim of the workshop was to introduce visitors to Book Arts as a medium, inviting them to customise books dontaed by Oxfam in Brigg. The books were transformed using crafty goodness found in our Tinpot Trunk:

Once they had completed their masterpieces they would put them into the Tinpot Library or take them home to show their friends. Here are some beautiful examples of the books created:

Book Arts is a medium that is difficult to define and this is the reason why we at Tinpot love it so much – because of the infinite ways in which books can be manipulated and transformed into something entirely new. As you can see, our visitors took very well to the ideas of customising found books and made some beautiful creations! Well done tinpotters!

We hope to do more Tinpot Library events, we will keep you posted with when and where!

Thanks for reading.
